Closing date: 17/05/2018

Salary: From £100,000

Employment type: Permanent

Hours per week: Full Time

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Director of Technology to lead the development and implementation of citizen health technology products and applications. These are complex, innovative and high value products and programmes that will enable our citizens to take greater control of their own health and care.

Passionate about improving health and social care through harnessing information and technology, you will drive the development of digital skills for patients and enable industry leading innovation and strategic partnerships.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to apply strategic, critical thinking and innovation to a range of challenges.  You will possess strong leadership skills in the application development and product development arena along with extensive experience of delivering change programmes underpinned by technology.

NHS Digital is the data and technology partner of the health and care system. It delivers critical national services, leads major technology enabled adaptive change programmes, and holds health and care data in trust for the nation, enabling world class data science.  All to enable safer, better care for patient and citizens. This role is central to our delivery of the 5 year Personalised Health and Care 2020 Portfolio, which has a value of £4.2bn and a mandate to deliver a very broad and complex set of new technical applications, platforms, service and capabilities over the coming years to support the transformation of health and care.

The Director of Citizen Health Technology will be accountable for the delivery of products and applications, including NHS.UK, NHSOnline, Personal Health Record and Health Apps Assessment & Uptake.

This post can be carried out from either our Leeds or London base with the requirement for regular travel across both.

This is a fantastic opportunity and in addition to a competitive salary you can look forward to an excellent contributory pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement. Perhaps the most compelling reasons for joining us, however, are the scale, scope and high-profile nature of the projects you’ll be working on, and the unique opportunity for personal and professional development.

The contribution of staff is recognised and valued and is important to the performance and success of the organisation. NHS Digital is committed to providing a working environment that promotes dignity and respect to all. We deliver excellence for our customers when we live the NHS Digital behaviours: clear – empowering – collaborative – constructive.
