Pharmacist Lead

We are bringing our Pharmacy Services at Tees Valley Hospital + Cobalt Hospital in-house and to do this we need an enthusiastic and pro-active Pharmacist to join our hospital teams. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services this is a part time post working across both hospitals. 

The Role:
The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm to develop a new hospital service and be able to apply flexibility to the role. The pharmacy model does not include operation of an in-house dispensary and working as part of the wider clinical team the pharmacist will provide a high standard of efficient, individualised patient care. You will also be able to build clinical knowledge and professional portfolio by working closely with the pre-assessment team, providing clinical support on peri-operative medicines management. You will be supported by a pharmacy technician on site who is responsible for pharmaceutical stock procurement.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be patient focused. Applications are welcomed from hospital pharmacists, community pharmacists and primary care pharmacists. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacist to be eligible to apply for this post.
The successful candidate will be provided with an induction training programme organised by supported by the Corporate Pharmacy Team.

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Clinical screening and services to clinical departments
  • Procurement, audit, patient counselling and other associated pharmaceutical duties
  • Attendance at relevant clinical governance meetings
  • Providing advice to patients/carers and clinical staff on pharmaceutical products as required
  • Adhering to GPhC Standards of conduct, ethics and performance
  • Supporting clinical managers in providing effective training and competency review of registered staff

What you will bring: 

  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
  • Flexibility to work across the 2 sites
  • Demonstrated Customer Service skills
