An opportunity has arisen for a Women’s Health/Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Department at West Midlands Hospital in Halesowen. The post will require you to work in the Physiotherapy department and at our new daycase hospital in Stourbridge.

The Hospital has a 30 bedded mixed inpatient case load which includes orthopaedics, gynae, colorectal and general surgery.  The dynamic Out-patient Physiotherapy Department has a private treatment room and a small gymnasium as well as three treatment bays, with an exciting renovation planned later in the year.  The Out-patient work consists of private patients, GP referrals, self-referrals and NHS patients.  A new Daycase unit has opened in Stourbridge which has a Physiotherapy clinic onsite to give patients better access to services. Hydrotherapy and Pilates services are also run through the Physiotherapy department at offsite clinics. 

We are seeking a motivated Physiotherapist with experience in Women’s Health to provide evidence based assessment and treatment for our gynae patients and MSK perinatal patients.  We currently receive pre-operative and post-operative referrals for incontinence (bladder and bowel), prolapse and pelvic pain, in particular Endometriosis.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Evidence of relevant pelvic health post-graduate courses. In particular, be competent with internal examinations.
  • Strong experience of managing complex women’s health patients (antenatal, postnatal, perimenopause, menopause) across MSK and gynae.
  • Experience in treating bladder dysfunction such as stress urinary incontinence, urgency, overactive bladder.
  • Experience in treating bowel dysfunction such as constipation and urgency.
  • An interest in developing a physio-led pessary service would be desirable.
  • A willingness to work positively and effectively within a team environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to participate in clinical audit, departmental in-service training and utilise outcome measures.
  • If the candidate is interested, some managerial experience can be developed.
  • If the candidate would prefer a mix of gynae patients and orthopaedic patients then this can be discussed dependant on what previous experience the candidate has had.
