An opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced, flexible, highly motivated, Registered Nurse to join our professional team working as Infection Control here at Fulwood Hall Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is willing to work 15 hours per week and has the enthusiasm and commitment to provide a high standard of care for our patients.

Duties and responsibilities…

  • Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and development of a quality infection prevention and control service providing leadership, support and guidance to all staff.
  • The post holder will demonstrate a high level of autonomy to challenge inappropriate practice and must demonstrate clinical decision-making to assist in containing and reducing the incidence of infection through risk assessment, surveillance, audit, intervention and education.
  • Responsible for providing advice to patients, visitors and staff across the organisation. This will include the provision of education and training to all grades of staff, and empowering staff to facilitate the prevention and control of infection.
  • Inputting data to PHE and local incident reporting systems (Riskman is a similar system to Datix)
  • Writing the annual infection control plan
  • Overseeing the Local Infection Prevention and Control Sub-Committee
  • Completing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for hip, knee & cluster infections
  • Overseeing the Surgical Site Infection 30 day surveillance process
  • Maintaining data spreadsheets

It is essential that applicants have…

  • A Registered Nurse qualification with excellent Clinical skills and knowledge
  • Excellent patient focused communication skills – written and verbal
  • Ability to manage own caseload and work with minimum supervision
  • Familiarity with NICE guidelines on clinical pre-assessment
  • A passion for delivering an excellent service
  • Excellent IT skills
  • IPC Competencies First level registered nurse with degree level or equivalent experience
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Infection Control Nursing or equivalent or have achieved IPS infection control competencies.
