Tees Valley Hospital part of the Ramsay Health Care Group has a vacancy for an experienced anaesthetic/recovery practitioner to join our theatre team. Tees Valley Hospital is in the grounds of Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough and opened in February 2018.  The hospital delivers a range of specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, oral, ENT, endoscopy, to both private and NHS patients.


This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to develop our services. You will be required to take a lead in ensuring an efficient and compliant anaesthetic and recovery service as well as supporting the theatre manager in leadership activities and taking charge of the department in the absence of the manager acting in the role of theatre coordinator as delegated.


Reporting to the Theatre Manager, key responsibilities include :


  • To lead and organise the activities of the recovery and anaesthetic team on a daily basis
  • To deliver an anaesthetic and recovery service compliant with policy and regulation
  • To ensure an efficient service is provided to users
  • To ensure appropriate induction, training and development of the anaesthetic and recovery team including PDRs and competency assessment
  • To ensure compliance to equipment checks and servicing and make recommendations for new and replacement equipment
  • Support critical care and resuscitation leads
  • Manage the department in the absence of the theatre manager
  • Participate in staff rostering, monitoring and recording of daily hours and other KPIs
  • Attendance at Hospital Committees and planning meetings as required





Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Practitioner – RN/ODP
  • Evidence of competence/qualification in both anaesthetics and recovery
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience 
  • ALS qualification


Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a senior position/ theatre co-ordination
  • Audit & report writing skills
